World Cup 2018 Predictions (Part 6)

Only a week to go and the World Cup is over ... boo hoo!!
I like many others thought a World Cup in Russia could be a disaster with predictions of Russian hooligans, heavy handed police, racist chanting, VAR etc?
But from what I've seen it has been brilliant so far and not just because England have performed, the VAR has mostly been done really well, weeding out the cheating b'stards and letting teams get on with playing football.

Final Rounds of Predictions (please fill in teams for final and 3rd place)
(90 Minute rule again - extra time and penalties don't count)

Semi Finals
Belgium v France
Croatia v England

3rd Place
Belgium v England

Final
France v Croatia

Thought I was running away with this, but Paulo has put the pressure on ...
60 Games - Lee 43, Paulo 40, Paul 31, (Lawro 42)

Good Luck All :)

  2. First one is really hard to pick, whoever wins will be odds on favourites for the title, hopefully a full blooded encounter with a few red cards?
The other, just praying for a stress free semi with England turning it on early :)

    Belgium v France 2-1
    Croatia v England 0-2

  3. Win for France Mbabppe looking good and team defending well, Belgium apart from Hazard were poor.

Just seen that we've got an England hating ref for the semi final, Turk Cakir has sent off 7 English players in Euro competitions and never any opposition ones :(

    61 Games - Lee 43, Paulo 40, Paul 31, (Lawro 43)

  5. A chance missed, could have put the game to bed in the first half but Croatia showed their quality in the 2nd half and extra time.
Would have settled for this run at the start of the competition, but being so close to a final really hurts :(
Trippier, Pickford, Maguire, Stones, Kane all come out of this with massive credit but none of them really let us down, Lingard, Sterling, Alli, Henderson, Walker and the others played well but not exceptional.
Missing a quality midfielder who can make things happen, Jack Wilshere might have been that player but Southgate preferred Dier and Loftus Cheeks? hopefully he can stay injury free and play a big part for West Ham and England in the next couple of seasons :)

The Curse of ITV strikes again :(
Anyway roll on the Euros 2020.

  6. Completely agree Lee it was a very young and inexperienced team that many wrote off before the tournament started but unified the country and just fell at last hurdle
    Belgium 1 England 1
    France 2 Croatia 0

  8. 3rd place - Belgium outclassed England for the 1st half but England showed some promise in the 2nd half until Hazard took on Jones and scored again.
Have to say Sterling was worth his usual 2/10 rating today, thought he'd been unlucky in previous games but didn't have a clue today, Dier looked much better in the 2nd half and Delph was much better in his favoured position. The 2nd half makes you realise we are only a few players short of a decent team.

    One game left.
