Longy
Oi, Longy! You've left off Stoke v Swansea
DeleteWell spotted :)
DeleteHadn't added them to my spreadsheet yet so hadn't noticed.
Well they've certainly got a better chance than some :)
ReplyDeleteGood old SNN getting my hopes up, a switch to Roots Hall would be good :)
Loving some of the stories the press are making up, "I took my 8 year old Chelsea supporting daughter to this away game even though everyone said it would kick off, and she was really shocked!!" and "it was just like the 1970's" that would have been a minor incident barely noticed in those days :)
Q: Was hooliganism any worse in the 70s than in the 80s?
Delete(I'd have thunk it was worse in the 80s, being more organized, but I know very little about it in the 70s)
From personal experience the late 70's and early 80's were worse, more mass brawls inside and outside the grounds, barely any game went by without a punch up somewhere that would make today's media have a fit.
DeleteAs you say it did get more organised later in the 80's which meant most of the trouble was away from the grounds due to the police cracking down and segregation being more rigidly enforced.
All seater stadiums and having to buy tickets before the game did stop a lot of the aggro.
Well as I was there I can say it wasn't that bad it was six of one half a dozen of the other! What they fail to mention is it was a cracking atmosphere under the lights the first proper game we have had under the lights, it only kicked off when there was five minutes to go Chelsea knew it wasn't going to be their night so one dick head breaks the cordon and gets halfway across then realises he is on his own so stops and starts taunting the West Ham fans, next the plumbing starts coming over and the rest has been wifely reported.

ReplyDeleteYou know how it works Paulo :(
Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Stoke etc all smash up visiting coaches and it barely gets mentioned but when it happens at Upton Park it was news for weeks, Chelsea fans start the shit on Wednesday but we're the only ones to blame.
Seemed to be a really good atmosphere against Chelsea just shows what a decent performance can do :)
Nearly forgot :)

Pedro Obiang 20/1 to score anytime, had to have a punt on that :)
ReplyDeleteAlright I know he's a defensive midfielder and has never scored for us but ...
Thought I was quids in as Obiang went past the last defender Gueye who tried to rip his shirt off, but as it's West Ham that's just a yellow card??
