World Cup 2018 Predictions (Part 1)

The World Cup is here again, so here is the World Cup predictions competition.

Usual predictions rules - 3 Points for a correct score, 1 Point for a correct result.
Overall winner will be decided on the total points at the end of the competition (64 Games).

Extra rules for the knockout stages:
To stop all confusion and arguments the prediction will be the score at the end of normal time (90 minutes + injury time).
Extra time and Penalties will not count.
So if a game finishes 0-0 and goes into extra time and one team has 3 players sent off and lose 7-0 it will count as a 0-0 draw, Hopefully that makes sense :)

All welcome to join in, plenty of time to catch up if you miss a few games.

Here's a list of the first round of games in the 2018 tournament.
Will post the rest in stages a few days before they are played.

    1. In the Sweep I run at work:-
Top 30 teams are split by FIFA ranking into 3 pots of 10 (Saudi and Korea discarded)
Each person get 1 team from each pot i.e 1 good, 1 medium and 1 not so good team
prizes for WC Winner, group winner(points of all three teams), goals scored (all 3 teams for all 64 games), and my personal favorite 79th minute goal.

Keeps everyone interested for the duration

I have Brazil, Nigeria and Iceland :)

    2. Seems a bit unfair on South Korea who are 13 places higher than Russia in the rankings?

Predict all 64 matches for £100m lol. Which of us here thinks that is possible. If I had 63 straight correct results, would be looking to lay my final prediction.

  8. The first VAR decision of the World Cup, and they got it wrong :(
The Aussie defender played the ball and the ref was right to not give it, but the VAR said it was a penalty?
Justice as the Aussies go up the other end and get their own penalty for a definite handball :)
