Stumbled upon this cool site yesterday: London's Long Lost Sports Grounds
Hope you like it.
Brilliant Biopunk :)
ReplyDeleteThe West Ham speedway/Greyhound stadium is amazing, room for 120,000 and we never played there?
Also as a West Ham fan I probably shouldn't say this, but I have fond memories of the old Den, I used to go quite often with an old mate in the late 70's who was a Millwall fan mainly for midweek games under their not very bright floodlights :)
I can see how the Den got it's "take yer life in yer hand" reputation with some of those tunnels in the Cold Blow Lane photos.
DeleteThe whole area was pretty desolate around that time, lots of old derelict warehouses and piles of rubbish lying around, not the most inviting of places but nowhere near as bad as they make out on those hooligan documentaries :)

Longy you've done it again? or have you decided to handicap yourself by only picking 9 every week :)

Well done all, thought this midweek set might get missed by one of you?
ReplyDeleteWill post the weekends (week 15) games later.
It gets confusing again around Christmas, so I'll have to do a mega post covering the whole period :)
Also a few of us might be worse for wear and forget (like me) :)
Day 1 and after those 2 exciting matches!!
ReplyDeleteBiopunk 3, Lee 2, Longy 1, Gobshyte 0, Paulo 0
