  2. At the start I did think Argentina would win, with their long unbeaten record and after winning the Copa America.
But they haven't impressed me, and to be honest no team has actually performed consistently.
Morocco a bit unlucky as they've had the best defence, shame they lost 3 of the back 4 to injury.
Messi has produced flashes of inspiration but a passenger most of the time, Mbappe looked good early on but pretty average in the last 2 games. England were probably better than I expected and a touch unlucky to go out.

Anyway the last of my predictions (started well but went down the pan rapidly)
    Croatia v Morocco 2-1
Argentina v France 1-1 (got a feeling the Argies might sneak itin extra time?)

  5. Croatia v Morocco 2-1
Early goals and more dubious VAR, Croatia deserved the win.
A bit late but finally got one right :)

  6. Argentina v France 2-2 (FT), 3-3 (AET), Argentina win 4-2 on penalties.
France were terrible for 75 minutes and it looked like Argentina would see out a boring 2-0 win thanks to a soft penalty and a decent DiMaria goal in the 1st half.
France sub Kolo Muani (the only French player who seemed to be trying) then got brought down for a penalty.
Then Mbappe came to life with 2 goals in 2 minutes.
Goal each for Messi and Mbappe in extra time so it was penalties.
Mbappe socored, Martinez saved one, one missed the target.
Lloris really should have saved the first 3 Argentine penalties which weren't very good but managed to dive out of the way of all of them.
The last 45 minutes were good after an awful game, so I guess people will remember it.

    Argentina win the World Cup.
Mbappe gets the golden boot and becomes the 2nd player to get a hat-trick in the final (although 2 were penalties).

Finally got my predicting skills back but too late.

    Day 23 Scores (64 Games)
