AFCON

For anyone interested? this Christmas period will be the last chance for over a month to see these players, who could be off to the AFCON (African Cup of Nations) from 9th Jan - 6th Feb.
Liverpool, Palace, Watford and Leicester seem hardest hit.

Potential 7 matches missed for those still in the Carabao Cup.

Premier Predictions (Week 16 + 17)

Another double week with games over the next week (see below).
Top 3 all have 2 home games, while West Ham get 2 away 😧

Possibility that their might be some Covid postponements? with Tottenham and Leicester having outbreaks. 💉😷

Highlights probably Gerrard going to Anfield, and Dean Smith taking on Villa. Chelsea v Leeds always throws up a memory of 1970 😄
Could be a bad week for the teams at the bottom?

Premier Predictions (Week 15)

Just a single week this time before the crazy Christmas period, although it's European games for some.
5 games on Saturday, 4 on Sunday and one on Monday night.

Early game is Hammers v Chelsea, Lukaku back fit just in time to get his usual goal against us 😟 a few players need to get some form back as the top 4 place is slipping away.
All the top 3 are away, at the bottom Newcastle have another 6 pointer as they try not to become the richest club in the Skybet (was funnier when it was the fizzy pop league).
Norwich unbeaten in 4 go to Tottenham.

West Ham v Chelsea
Newcastle v Burnley
Southampton v Brighton
Wolves v Liverpool
Watford v Man City

Leeds v Brentford
Man Utd v Crystal Palace
Tottenham v Norwich
Aston Villa v Leicester
Everton v Arsenal

Good Luck All  😀

Premier Predictions (Week 13 + 14)

Double header this week.
With 6 full Premier weeks plus European and Caribou cup games to cram in before 🎄 Christmas, it's going to get busy. West Ham, Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool and Tottenham have 9 games in 30 days.
Not feeling over confident about the Hammers trip to Man City just 3 days after a trip to Lockdown Austria, but will be hoping for the best 👍 Chelsea face Olé free Man U, don't expect much to change.

In week 14 reunion's week it's the Benitez derby, Ranieri v Chelsea and Grealish back at Villa.
Also the first big relegation six pointer.

--------------------------------------------------------
Week 13 (Saturday 27th November - Sunday 28th November)

Arsenal v Newcastle
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa
Liverpool v Southampton
Norwich v Wolves
Brighton v Leeds

Brentford v Everton
Burnley v Tottenham
Leicester v Watford
Man City v West Ham
Chelsea v Man Utd

--------------------------------------------------------
Week 14 (Tuesday 30th November - Thursday 2nd December)

Newcastle v Norwich
Leeds v Crystal Palace

Southampton v Leicester

Man Utd v Arsenal

Good Luck All  😀

Premier Predictions (Week 12)

Managerial merry go round over for a few weeks, new bosses at Villa, Newcastle, Norwich and Tottenham. Interesting to see if Kane can do it for Tottenham after 7 goals in 2 games for England? (Leeds are a bit better than San Marino).

8 games on Saturday, 2 games on Sunday.

Leicester v Chelsea
Aston Villa v Brighton
Burnley v Crystal Palace
Newcastle v Brentford
Norwich v Southampton
Watford v Man Utd
Wolves v West Ham
Liverpool v Arsenal

Premier Predictions (Week 11)

Friday night start this week.
Villa go to Southampton in the Friday game, 5 games on Saturday and 4 on Sunday before another International week 😒
The Manchester derby is the Saturday lunchtime game, should be an away win but you don't know what you'll get from either of these?
Ex Chelsea manager Antonio Conte's 1st league game is away at Everton, so him and his wig should survive a few weeks?
The big game is Sunday with 2 of the big 4 facing off, hopefully better than last year when we had our worst performance of the season 😭

Southampton v Aston Villa

Man Utd v Man City
Brentford v Norwich
Chelsea v Burnley
Crystal Palace v Wolves
Brighton v Newcastle

Arsenal v Watford
Everton v Tottenham
Leeds v Leicester
West Ham v Liverpool

Good Luck All  😀

A highlight of every week (even if we lose) is the West Ham clips game review (hopefully the Prem won't ban me?)
Warning ** Some offensive language ** 😁

Posting this early this week in case I forget in a football filled week.
It's another of those Friday night starts, with 6 games on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.
6 of the top 7 play each other this week, which is good news for Chelsea as they have Norwich at home.

Brighton v Man City

Brentford v Leicester
West Ham v Tottenham

Premier Predictions (Week 08)

Back to business after another uninspiring International week.
7 games on Saturday, 2 on Sunday and one on Monday night.
Opening game sees Ranieri back as Watford sack another manager, probably worth a bet he won't be there at the end of the season.
Big game of the week is probably the West London derby?

Watford v Liverpool
Aston Villa v Wolves
Leicester v Man Utd
Man City v Burnley
Norwich v Brighton
Southampton v Leeds
Brentford v Chelsea

Everton v West Ham
Newcastle v Tottenham
Arsenal v Crystal Palace

Good Luck All  😀

Thursday, 30 September 2021

Premier Predictions (Week 07)

All the games on Saturday and Sunday this week, ahead of another International break. 6 games Saturday, 4 games Sunday.
The big one in the title battle is on Sunday, Man City have had 3 away games in a week against top class opposition, great against Chelsea, rubbish against PSG and who knows against Liverpool? although if results go a certain way on Saturday both could be out of the top 4 before they play 😜

Man Utd v Everton
Burnley v Norwich
Chelsea v Southampton
Leeds v Watford
Wolves v Newcastle
Brighton v Arsenal

Crystal Palace v Leicester
Tottenham v Aston Villa
West Ham v Brentford
Liverpool v Man City

Good Luck All  😀

*hope this posts, as my internet speed has died today?*

Thursday, 23 September 2021

Premier Predictions (Week 06)

Chelsea v Man City
Everton v Norwich
Leeds v West Ham
Leicester v Burnley
Man Utd v Aston Villa
Watford v Newcastle
Brentford v Liverpool
Southampton v Wolves
Arsenal v Tottenham
Crystal Palace v Brighton

Good Luck All  😀

Premier Predictions (Week 04)

Back to normality after an extra busy international break, a lot of clubs not knowing whether their players will be available due to quarantines and bans for not going?

Summer Transfers 2021

Summer 2021 transfer window now shut so here's where the Premier league cash was splashed this season.
(Info based on the best sources I could find, includes squad and youth players).
Overall spending is down from last season but still over a billion.
Many Undisclosed figures, but mainly for youth players so the figures shouldn't change much.

Arsenal the big spenders, but not sure those brought in will turn them into challengers (might keep them up) 😁
Man Utd have added a few decent players but not sure if they are good enough to challenge Man City and Chelsea.
Norwich have bought the most players in, which is a change of strategy from their last Premier league attempt.
Chelsea bringing in Lukaku looks the best signing of the summer.
West Ham have added some squad depth but didn't get a striker, wondering if Vlasic can be used there?
Everton only spent £1.8m but have picked up 3 decent players.

The Chart:

Total Spend - £1,263,439,000,000
Most Players In - Norwich 15, Aston Villa 14, Watford 13
Most Players Out - Watford 52, Chelsea 48, Man City 44
Most Money Paid - Arsenal £149.04m, Man Utd £126m, Man City £112.5m
Most Money Received - Chelsea £144.89m, Aston Villa £114.75m, Southampton £57.74m
Largest Profit - Chelsea £36.89m, Aston Villa £19.71m, Southampton £17.37m
Largest Defecit - Arsenal £121.23m, Man Utd £98.12m, Tottenham £73.28m

Largest Fees Paid (£20m +)

Jack Grealish [Aston Villa - Man City] £105.75m
Romelu Lukaku [Inter Milan - Chelsea] £103.5m
Jadon Sancho [Borussia Dortmund - Man Utd] £76.5m
Ben White [Brighton - Arsenal] £52.65m
Cristian Romero [Atalanta - Tottenham] £42.5m (Reported?)
Ibrahima Konate [RB Leipzig - Liverpool] £36m
Raphael Varane [Real Madrid - Man Utd] £36m
Tammy Abraham [Chelsea - Roma] £36m *
Emiliano Buendia [Norwich - Aston Villa] £34.56m
Danny Ings [Southampton - Aston Villa] £31.68m
Martin Odegaard [Real Madrid - Arsenal] £31.5m
Kurt Zouma [Chelsea - West Ham] £31.5m
Leon Bailey [Bayer Leverkusen - Aston Villa] £28.8m
Nikola Vlasic [CSKA Moscow - West Ham] £27m
Patson Daka [Red Bull Salzburg - Leicester] £27m
Joe Willock [Arsenal - Newcastle] £26.46m
Fikayo Tomori [Chelsea - AC Milan] £26.28m *
Daniel James [Man Utd - Leeds] £26.19m
Aaron Ramsdale [Sheff Utd - Arsenal] £25.20m
Bryan Gil [Sevilla - Tottenham] £22.5m
Emerson Royal [Barcelona - Tottenham] £22.5m
Marc Guehi [Chelsea - Crystal Palace] £21m
Enock Mwepu [RB Salzburg - Brighton] £20.7m

Oddest transfers?
Sima from Slavia Prague was being talked about as a £20m+ striker option for West Ham during the window? ends up signing for Brighton (who are short of strikers) for £9m who then loan him to Stoke for the season?
Former Hull, West Brom, Reading and Hi-De-Hi star Paul McShane signing for Man Utd.

Wednesday, 25 August 2021

Premier Predictions (Week 03)

This weeks games are on Saturday and Sunday before the first International break of the season.
England play 3 games in 7 days, Hungary (A), Andorra (H), Poland (A) so plenty of chances for injury and Covid.
7 games on Saturday and 3 on Sunday, with Chelsea going to Liverpool which should be interesting. The other 100%'ers all have home games.
"leaders" West Ham at home to relegation candidates Palace, it's hard as a lifelong Hammers fan to be over confident though 😁

Man City v Arsenal
Aston Villa v Brentford
Brighton v Everton
Newcastle v Southampton
Norwich v Leicester
West Ham v Crystal Palace
Liverpool v Chelsea

Burnley v Leeds
Tottenham v Watford
Wolves v Man Utd

Good Luck All  😀

Premier Predictions (Week 01)

Premier League time again, so here we go with Premier Predictions 2021-22

Hopefully the regular players will be back and anyone reading this blog is welcome to join in at any point, just let me know a name and club supported so I can give you some colours.

T&C's - Usual rules apply
3 Points for a correct score, 1 Point for a correct result.
Predictions League will be decided on weekly wins first, if 2 or more people share a weekly win that will be classed as a draw, if at the end things are still level the total points for the season come into play.
Predictions in the comments please 😀
Obviously predictions will only count if they are made before the kick offs, please try and post the whole set at once (but I won't enforce it as these Friday night games catch everyone out including me).

Prizes - Just the admiration of everyone who plays 😎

Week 1 - Friday 13th August to Sunday 15th August

Brentford v Arsenal

Man Utd v Leeds
Burnley v Brighton
Chelsea v Crystal Palace
Everton v Southampton
Leicester v Wolves
Watford v Aston Villa
Norwich v Liverpool

Newcastle v West Ham
Tottenham v Man City

Good Luck All  😀

New Season (2021/2022)

These summer breaks get shorter every season.
Mad panic to set up Fantasy Football teams in time for Friday.

League set up for the Premier league game (FPL), so if anyone wants to join in the Auto code is Auto Join Link or manual code is srmc8x

Not going to bother setting up a league in the Telegraph game (TFF) as they seem to have taken all the fun out of that part of the game, but will probably enter a few teams of my own.

Season kicks off on Friday night, so if anyone is up for it I will be doing the Predictions league again.
Hopefully Biopunk, Paulo, Paul and Gibbo come back for another go, and anyone else who reads this is welcome to join in.

Obvious challengers for the title will be the 2 Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Hopefully West Ham can build on last season and be in with a shout with Leicester, Leeds, Arsenal all in the mix?
I guess the 3 promoted teams might struggle along with Burnley, Palace and maybe even Wolves.
Big transfers seem to be back with Grealish (£105m), Sancho (£76m) leading the way and about 10 other £25m+ transfers already done.
Norwich have decided to spend this time to stay up with over £40m spent already, and 8 other teams already spending over £30m. Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton and West Ham yet to get the cheque book out.
Full transfers break down at the end of the window.

Looks like another season of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday kick offs which is annoying, I miss just having Saturday and Sunday weekends.

Anyway hoping that it's a good season of footie 😀

Euro 2021 Predictions (Part 1)

Well this seems to have sneaked up on me, games start at the end of this week.
As usual I will be hoping for England to do well, but won't be putting any money on them. A few odd decisions in the squad with Henderson being chosen over in form Lingard and Ward Prowse, and off form players like the injured Maguire, Mings and Sterling in ahead of Bamford, Watkins and Godfrey. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

The Euro 2021 Prediction competition.
Anyone welcome to join in on this (just leave a name, no anonymous).

Rules - 3 points for a correct score, 1 point for a correct result (comment before kick off's)
Scores after 90 minutes only (not including extra time and penalties) to avoid complaints.

F.A Premier League Competition (FPL)

Congratulations to Mike who wins for the 2nd year on the trot, and led all season.
Personally a bad season, never higher than 3rd (kept leaving my best points scorers on the banch).

Telegraph Fantasy Football (TFF)

Congratulations to Dave who overtook all season leader Richard in the final week.
Not sure if I'll bother with this next season as they seem to have taken away most of the things that made it fun to play.
Although never really being in the running for the big prizes, they have taken away nearly all of those with just a few small prizes for Top 3, where I had won money for finishing in the top 20 before.
I did enjoy seeing how my little NBTF league did against the big multi leagues (usually getting a Top 50 placing), but the League of Leagues table was taken away this season. 😡

Think that covers everything?
On to the Euros before next season.

Premier Predictions (Week 38)

The final week of this shortened weird season.
Only European spots up for grabs.
Any 2 from Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester for the Champions league.
West Ham need a point to guarantee Europa league, which would leave Tottenham, Everton, Arsenal and Leeds still in with a chance of the new Euro Mickey Mouse Tournament.
Possibly gets even more complicated if Chelsea finish 5th but win the Champions league???

Arsenal v Brighton
Aston Villa v Chelsea
Fulham v Newcastle
Leeds v West Brom
Leicester v Tottenham
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Man City v Everton
Sheff Utd v Burnley
West Ham v Southampton

Week 36 is another Friday start with just 8 league games and the Cup final (90 min score only).
Warning - Week 37 is due to start on Tuesday 18th.
Looks like the title and relegation spots are all tied up, so the main interest is in the European spots which are too close to call.
